im 48 yrs old an im a scary movie buff. the gorier the better. my list is as follows.not in order.halloween the exorcist re animator all the night of the living dead movies. the original was in black an white. george romaro used chocalate syrup for the blood scenes. figuring people wouldnt tell the differance ha ha.john carpenter was correct when he said people come to movies to be jumping out of their seats.nightmare on elm movies were all silly an stupid, kids dont know what scary is.

Been a while since I've posted here...I just got back from Saw IV, and I have to say, it just might be the scariest movie I've seen all year. It returns to the roots of the original film (you're drawn into the victims' confusion, then made to realize they're more disturbing characters than the villain is) while keeping the emotional element that made the second and third so good. (And, amazingly, my "John = Lucifer" theory is still alive!) I take back my old disparaging comment about a fifth Saw; after this one, the only "shudder" I'm feeling over Saw V and beyond is of excitement. Funny how things change...

Some other good thrillers I've seen since we last spoke: Unrest, A Tale of Two Sisters, Death Sentence, The Descent, Infection, Black Christmas (1975). And for Daniel: If you're willing to immerse yourself in a more classical, slow-paced movie (and since you liked The Shining and Emily Rose, I'd imagine you are), then I guarantee you'll love The Exorcist - but brace yourself, because it's VERY intense.

Peace out.

Dawn,
I agre with some of your list, wouldnt say that night of the living dead is the scaryiest, but in saying that, when i watched it with my 10 year old brother a few nights ago, when we went to bed, every time we heard a noise it shore scared the shit out of us!
This next bit i wrote is for all people on site:
i my self have my top ten list too,

10. The Exorcim of Emily Rose
9. The shinning
8. Haloween 4
7.the omen (2006)
6. The grudge
5. The texas chainsaw massicre the begining
4. Saw 2
3. Dawn of the dead (2004)
2.Haloween Resurection
1. Ghost Ship

That ghost ship really scared me,and it takes a lot to scare me!
I havnt seen the Exorcist yet, so i wouldnt mind if someone wrote a comment about if its good or not.
Thanks!
