A dubious conclusion at best. Personally, I'm not a starry-eyed idealist who rejects on its face the idea that unpleasant things must sometimes be done for the greater good of the world or even simply our nation. But I fail to see how many of the crimes Kissinger is accused of --- East Timor, to take just one --- improved the security of the United States or of the world. And the odd thing is that Buckley seems neither to forcefully advance that defense --- that it was all justified to save the world --- nor does he even seem to challenge the facts and accusations as presented by Hitchens.
He just seems to want us to leave poor Henry alone.
