Press release:

RollingStone.com, the Internet's leading authority on music news and popular culture, today unveils a fresh new design with many new features and special content for music and movie fans — as well as greater sponsorship opportunities for brand-name advertisers. To celebrate this event, RollingStone.com is hosting the exclusive world premiere of multimedia material from Stripped, the forthcoming album from Grammy award winner and multi-platinum singer Christina Aguilera.

Christina Aguilera Stripped on RollingStone.com Due October 29 from RCA Records, Stripped is 21-year-old Aguilera's follow-up to her 1999 self-titled debut smash, which launched a career that has already sold over 12 million albums worldwide and won three Grammys. In advance of its arrival, RollingStone.com will be offering a variety of special content to her fans this week:

    * Be among the first to download "Fighter," a previously-unreleased Christina song also featuring Dave Navarro.
    * Watch Christina's new video, "Dirrty", also featuring Redman — as well as all of her previous videos on RollingStone.com.
    * Exclusive outtakes from Christina's photo shoot for her upcoming appearance on the cover of the October 25 issue of Rolling Stone magazine — in addition to an entire Christina photo gallery.
    * Lastly, one lucky fan will win a trip for two to see Christina perform live in Los Angeles.

The New RollingStone.com RollingStone.com's updated look integrates many of the new features and visual elements of Rolling Stone magazine's recent redesign. In addition to improvements to make the site easier to read and navigate, RollingStone.com has greatly expanded its collection of celebrity
photos, and movie, CD and DVD reviews. RollingStone.com will also be incorporating high-quality content from its GetMusic.com sister site, including a vast library of popular music videos.

"With RollingStone.com, our goal is to provide much more than an online version of the magazine," said Larry Carlat, the Website's editor-in-chief. "We offer music fans deeper and broader details about their favorite artists and bands in a manner appropriate to the medium. But the coolest thing we offer is a dialog between Rolling Stone and our readers."

    RollingStone Radio
In conjunction with Radio Free Virgin, a recognized leader in Internet radio, RollingStone.com now offers a free radio player worthy of its name. Each of its 40 channels is refreshed daily and programmed by professional DJs with consistent CD-quality streaming — including a customized RollingStone "Editor's Picks" station.

The site looks sharp and the new features are appealing, but aligning themselves with dreaded skank Aguilera is not necessarily a good move. Worse still - she's not even attractive.

Career media professional Eric Olsen is honored to be the founder and publisher of Blogcritics.org, which, quite frankly, rules - as do his wife and four children.

Why does Rolling Stone call itself "the Internet's leading authority on music news and popular culture" when that is a lie? According to Google, the only site that makes that claim is Rolling Stone.

Where did this authority come from? And why "leading"? Won't they say we're number two, but we try harder? What's so bad about third place?

For myself I haven't respected RS as an authority on anything in over 20 years, except to pick it up once every 18 months or so to confirm, yep, it's still crap.

And besides, everybody knows there's only one rock and roll magazine.
