Blogcritics Discussion Club Begins!
Published October 21, 2002
Since we are all about opinions, and our readers have just as valid opinions as we do, we are beginning a book, CD, movie, video, etc discussion group. We will discuss one topic each week on Fridays, rotating between books, CDs, new movies or TV, and DVD/video. One blogcritic will lead the discussion.
This week we will discuss a book many regard as a classic and some regard as an overrated entertainment, John Kennedy Toole's A Confederacy of Dunces, which is also the topic of discussion on the NY Times site this month.
Since many people have already read the book, we will have the discussion this Friday, October 25, plenty of time to reread the book. If you haven't read it, now would be a great time to see what everyone is talking about. You may also want to check out Nevils' bio of Toole.
We will announce our monthly book topic several weeks in advance from now on, giving everyone a chance to get a copy and read it. Next week we will discuss a CD, the following week a new movie, the following week a DVD, then back to a book.
We very much look forward to your input and hope you make our discussions a regular part of your Fridays.

Eric, how are yall going to do this? I've read this book too many times, and at the least, I'd like to listen to others discuss it. Lord knows I've done enough bourbon-and-beer-fueled defense of it...
On Friday we will just have discussion via the comments section. I will ask questions or bring up issues and just go with the flow.

Just let me know when you get to Catch-22.
