I've avoided the first two albums by this second incarnation of the Dixie Chicks, mainly because I've always been a big fan of the original foursome. (Oh yes, the original foursome -- you do know that the Dixie Chicks have been recording since the early 1990s, right?) Has anyone familiar with their now-deleted back catalog heard this yet? How does it stack up against, say, Thank Heavens for Dale Evans?

I want to show my support to the Dixie Chicks, I am proud that Natalie exercised her right to free speech, I mean that is why we are a war, right? So the people of Iraq can have the same right we as Americans do? I say Natalie keeep exercising that right because if we stop we will not be heard!!! How artists have done or said something offensive to a lot of people and have not gotten the negative publicity they should have gotten. Isn't the greatest part of this country the ability to speak out, free of fear of persecution as a result of one's opinions? Boycott the Chicks if you think that's right, by all means. Before the most negative of You Out There posts your rather ... hollow comments, please take a minute to raise your head and look anywhere else outside your country. Take a trip to another continent and try to see how your "dear" President rules from the outside. It's not impressing! I support the Dixie Chicks 100% in their critics.
When that is said: a good discussion with good reasoning is always welcome.

Ya know, I have never like the Dixie Chicks, but am compelled to go out and buy all of their albums now. That beautiful woman has every right to speak out about this president. I think it is our responsibility to speak up when our leaders are messing up (and this president is piling one screw up on top of another). But they aren't just mistakes, he intentionally misleads the people, abuses his power, infringes upon our rights, etc.... All intentional!! How can anyone continue to support this man?! Just look at what he is doing. Please, people, open your eyes.

And regarding the comments about not letting your children listen to their albums...how silly. First, that will only make them want to listen to them more. Second, as parents we should teach our children to think for themselves, not just follow blindly (others or us). Instill the basics and let them develop! I doubt you want your children following all of the popular trends...

Um, last one...I had no idea what Natalie Maines looks like, but I just looked up photos of the Dixie Chicks because I was curious after all the talk about the "fat" or "chubby" girl. Once I figured out which one she was, I gotta suggest that those of you who call her "chubby" go to the optometrist. They are all pretty, and she is HOT! I am not a guy, but I can still appreciate when a woman is nice to look at. And she is nice to look at.

I saw N.M. say in an interview the other day; "We're musicians, not politicians". That's the most intelligent thing that's come out of her mouth since those shameful and fateful comments in England. My only question is why doesn't she live up to the statement and just make music and keep her political opinions to herself? She, and we all, would be much better off.

They have absolutely no right to use that status to promote their personal political agendas regardless what they may be. The public doesn't pay them for their opinions, it pays them for their talent. They should all keep their opinions to themselves.

I don't think there is anything wrong with them using their positions to be activists regarding what they believe in. And, they have every right to say how they feel.

Another good example is Rush Limbaugh, who before he became a know-it-all talk show host, had done more than being a PR man for the Kansas City Royals and a radio Disc Jockey.

I am so tired of hearing that the DC should shut their mouths! I watched an interview with Reba McIntyre and she was saying she just could not understand why the DC's had singled her out! How dare she! She has made statements about them nonstop, even at the CMA's! Yet, she doesn't know why they singled her out. She didn't even own up to her remarks, tried to say the last time she said anything was in 2003?! If one is going to run their mouth and then try to act like it never even happened, I have NO respect for that person. At least the DC"s haven't lied about what they said!
