Courtney/Universal Settlement Confirmed

It's a big day for settlements:

Rock music star Courtney Love and Universal Music Group on Monday said they have settled all legal issues between them, ending a widely watched industry lawsuit ahead of a trial scheduled for this week.

Under the deal, Universal Music Group said it will waive rights to future recordings from the artist, who heads rock band Hole and is the widow of Kurt Cobain. Cobain was the lead singer of alternative rock band Nirvana before he committed suicide in 1994.

Love and the other members of the Cobain estate have granted Universal Music Group permission to release new Nirvana records from the group's old hits.

Ownership of some unreleased Hole records will revert to Love, and Universal Music will waive a re-recording restriction for some previously released Hole songs, among other details.

Universal Music Group, the world's No. 1 music company, is a unit of Franco-American media company Vivendi Universal.

A better title:

Vivendi/Universal says: Nirvana worth more than all of Courtney.

We knew it all along...
