Nightline Upclose on MacArthur Fellows

Nightline Upclose is profiling seven of the MacArthur Fellows Wednesday night: Camilo Jose Vergar who photographed the World Trade Center for two decades, "Liz Lerman of Takoma Park, Md., an award-winning choreographer; George Lewis, a LaJolla, Calif. jazz trombonist and composer at the University of California, San Diego; Liza Lou, a California artist who turns glass beads into something extraordinary; New York documentary filmmaker Stanley Nelson who picks historical African-American subjects for his spotlight; Daniela Rus, an associate professor at Dartmouth who works with robots that can change their shape; and Brian Tucker, a Palo Alto seismologist who works to minimize damage from natural disasters in developing countries."

It was supposed to run on Nightline, but got bumped to UpClose which airs right after Nightline on most ABC stations for a show on the political talk about Iraq.

I wrote a Blogcritics item earlier today (which is now kind of buried because of the mass post) with more info on Lewis, Nelson and several of the other fellows.

Morning Edition interviewed some of the fellows this morning. All Things Considered interviewed Brian Tucker and talked with Edgar Meyer about his music.
