Love Ta Love Ya, Courtney

I decided to take a peek at MTV2 24 Hours of Love this morning...more out of morbid curiousity than anything else. I am not the biggest fan of the woman. Most of the time I have seen her, she's been staggering around trying to prove how big a bitch she is. (Note: I realize this is probably an unfair characterization, based on limited data. Bite me.)

I expected to see Courtney doing her laundry, Courtney sleeping, Courtney trashing Madonna, or a bunch of Hole or Nirvana videos. Instead, I was treated to an early morning concert by David Bowie (which is really the focus of my post). I haven't really seen much of Bowie since Tin Machine, and I assumed that he would fade away into the last generation of rockers.

Oh, me of little faith!

I witnessed Bowie and band smashing through a version of "Scary Monsters" that sounded like it was the latest release (and definitely kicking the ass of the Strokes, Hives, White Stripes, etc., punks that seem to be all the rage now). I supposed if you scraped off the makeup and got a real good closeup, he'd show his 50+ years, but I didn't see it this morning. What I saw was the father of alternative rock teaching his kiddies a lesson.

Thank you, Courtney Love. You can take over MTV any time you like.
