Media By Milosevic airing on PBS stations Thursday tells the story of his use of propaganda in the official media and the opposition from independent media. It is part of the first season of WideAngle, a summer series on international issues (check local listings because many stations show it on a different day).

An online photo essay includes a shot showing how a pro-government paper made a Milosevik rally attended by 15,000 look like there were over 100,000 people.

Although there is currently little coverage of Yugoslavia in US media (aside from when the defeat the US basketball team and some stories on Milosevic's trial), there are good sources for information. B92 has a daily news summary and live RealVideo coverage of Milosevic's trial. The Institute for War and Peace Reporting has coverage online (including on Afghanistan) and a number of free email newsletters.

IWPR had a recent story on the conflicts between human rights groups and the independent media over coverage of Serbia's responsibility for war crimes.
