Read 9/11 television blogs, but go to events

Slate's TV critic Virginia Heffernan is keeping a blog on 9/11 television coverage. Kansas City Star TV critic Aaron Barnhart has an overview of some of the programming. And more will be posted to his sites TVBarn and Docs on TV (which I contribute to). Aaron's posts from 9/11 are archived.

But perhaps the best thing we can do is to tear ourselves away from our TVs and computers and go to some of the events (many involving music) taking place over the next week. Your old fashioned newspaper may have the most comprehensive listings (this for example from the New York Times), but blogs may provide some of the best coverage.

In San Francisco, public tv station KQED is having a Media Salon, September 11th and Beyond: A Look at the Media's Coverage, on Monday, September 9th from 7 to 9 pm.

At 6 p.m. on September 11th, the San Francisco Symphony will perform a free outdoor concert at Yuerba Buena Gardens. And SFMOMA which is usually closed on Wednesdays will offer free admission all day. It is too bad they couldn't have extended the Yoko Ono exhibit which runs through Sunday.

After the symphony concert, I'm going to see Mecca Normal and Bonfire Madigan play at the Hemlock Tavern.
