Record companies sue ISPs

13 record labels sued 4 Internet providers yesterday in an attempt to force them to block a China-based music-sharing website. According to the NY Times, it's testing out a measure provided for by the DMCA, but that has never been invoked until now.
Says Photodude, America has "legal precedents involving what's called a 'common carrier.'" Courts have already ruled that ISPs are not responsible for the data that crosses their infrastructure.
Seems that Big Music wants to buy a new and improved court decision.
