Rollins Band - The Only Way To Know For Sure
Published August 12, 2002
I've said before and probably will say again, that Rollins Band is my favorite band right now. They have been for a while and probably will be for a while yet. A couple of years ago, Henry broke away from the previous members of the band, Chris Haskett, Sim Cain and Melvin Gibbs. I was sorely dissappointed by this, since I thought those three were great musicians, put on an awesome live show and were just all around great. He then hooked up with a relatively unknown band called Mother Superior, with him doing the vocals. I had never heard them before, but checked out Get Some Go Again when it was released. I was seriously impressed, and I went to see them when they came around. They were better live than anything I'd seen before, so I was hooked again. In several ways, I miss the old lineup, but the new one can kick it live just as well if not better. I'd never seen a guitarist doing slide work in music this heavy before and I was blown away. Check out the slide work in "Hotter and Hotter" and "Stop Look & Listen" from The Only Way To Know For Sure and you will see what I mean.
I know this review is quite long, but I am quite impressed with this release. I rate it a must-have for any fan of the Rollins Band, and a should check out for anyone who has never heard them before. This is the best live CD I've bought in years.
