The Ishii-Itô teamwork so stunned me on first viewing of a bleak sci-fi allegory, it was hard to say whether 'Avalon' was virtuoso nonsense or a subtle masterpiece. This time, I've made up my mind.
This rendition of the 1987 classic is only 24 minutes long, and has a completely differerent context, one in which John Matrix (Arnold) is no longer the main character. Without him though, the battle must continue, and the fight to eradicate the evil dictator-to-be must go on.
Beyond any ultimate meaning of the movie, or ideas about Robin Williams, this movie should be seen by anyone who has any interest in the art of movies. Outstanding craft.
