After a series of cancellations and withdrawals of the fight, Anderson Silva and Vitor Belfort will finally meet in the MMA ring in the coming UFC 126 event on February 5 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

There are a lot of reasons why the fight didn’t come to reality sooner. Silva was due to defend his title as the UFC Middleweight Champion for UFC 108 against Belfort but was unable able to do it because of an injury. He canceled another fight against Belfort in UFC 109 because of his injury, which wasn’t cured yet at that time.

UFC 112 could have materialized the sought after battle between the two MMA fighters but at that time, Belfort was the one who never showed up in the ring because of his own injury. He was replaced to fight Silva by Demian Maia. Silva won that fight, which was not so satisfying if you were part of the audience at that time.

Anderson Silva is a Brazilian black belt recipient in jiu-jitsu and second in the list of the best pound-for-pound fighters in the world, in addition to being the current UFC Middleweight Champion, the longest reigning champ in the sport’s history. He has so many other prides under his belt to show off as well, including being the best in Muay Thai, and the owner of a black belt in Judo.

Silva started learning mixed martial arts at the very young age of 14. He is also the number one ranked MMA Middleweight fighter in the world, according to many MMA journals.

The Brazilian fighter is also interested in doing boxing professionally and fighting Roy Jones Jr., specifically with the proper boxing match rules and regulations because he wants everyone to know that mixed martial artists can also fight properly with appropriate regulations.

The fight that he had with Demian Maia did not really impress Dana White, the UFC president. White threatened to cut Silva off of UFC if he ever fought like he did with Maia during UFC 112. In that fight, Silva was said to be showing less action and was reported also to have verbally insulted Maia in the ring. On the other hand, during the UFC 117 fight with Chael Sonnen, Sonnen submitted to Silva after round five.

Belfort is also Brazilian, so two Brazilian mixed martial artists will reign in the ring during their match in the upcoming UFC 126 fight. He marked his return to UFC during the UFC 103 fight against Rich Franklin in which he won after three minutes by knockout.

February 5, 2011, should be marked in everyone’s calendar because finally, in the UFC 126 live event, champion Silva will at last face Vitor Belfort. The battle between the two great MMA fighters will happen in the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. It can be watched live through pay-per-view

Belfort and Silva will surely not disappoint the people who have been waiting to watch how they will beat each other up in that eight-sided ring of the UFC. The series of fights in UFC 126 will happen on the eve of 45th NFL Super Bowl.
