The Fifth Judge picks songs for the six remaining Idol contestants during "Shania Twain Week."

American Idol: Possible Song Choices For The Top Six

Next week on American Idol, the contestants will be singing the songs of Shania Twain. She will also be serving as mentor to the contestants.

I am fairly familiar with Shania's music, so I decided that I would pick the songs I think that the Idol contestants would excel at this week. I went through the list of available songs (which you can find on iTunes) and tried to keep the contestants within each of their singing styles, but ones that would also try to push them out of their comfort zones.

For Mike Lynche, I am choosing the song, "Come On Over." It is a very playful song and has a fun melody. I think that like Mike's performance of Jason Mraz's "I'm Yours" during "Hollywood Week," he would able to show the fun aspect of his personality with the song. I do think that Mike has quite the challenge on his hands, but it would be in his favor to mix it up and take a risk.

I am almost willing to bet money that Aaron Kelly will sing "From This Moment," next week. Even though Aaron needs to sing more up-tempo songs, I didn't come across a song that I felt would work with his voice. The kid loves his ballads and he will probably be singing it anyway, so why not pick it for him? Being that it's pretty much country week, I think Aaron will do very well with this song as long as he works on his vocals so as to be able to hit all the big notes.

For Casey James I am choosing "You're Still The One." If Casey wants to stay in the competition and just play his guitar, he's going to need to, at the very least, have a convincingly sincere performance. I think if he takes this song, completely strips it down like he did with "Jealous Guy," he can keep himself in the competition for another week.

Lee Dewyze is someone I had a tough time picking for. I think it's time for him to do something upbeat, rock and roll, and a little gritty. With that it mind, I'm picking "(If You're Not In It For Love) I'm Outta Here." It has a bluesy feel to it, and I think Lee can embrace some of his new found stage presence and rock out a bit. He really needs to ride the wave of momentum he's on right now, and as always, song choice is key.

For Siobhan Magnus, I am choosing "That Don't Impress Me Much." Siobhan needs to kick her performances back into high gear and get out of the weird slump she has been in. This song is playful and she will be able to work her personality into her performance. It's time for her to get back into singing more uptempo songs, and I think she can have a really good week with the help of Shania's music.

As soon as I heard that the contestants were going to be singing the music of Shania Twain, I immediately thought that Crystal Bowersox should sing "Any Man of Mine." It will show more of her personality during the performance and it would also allow her to rock out on guitar. After listening to clips of Shania's songs, I also think that "Man, I Feel Like A Woman" and "Honey, I'm Home" could also be good possibilities, but that "Any Man of Mine" would be the best choice for her. It's high time that Crystal broke away from her mid-tempo ballads and just rocked out — it's is something I have been waiting to see all season, and I hope she takes the opportunity and goes for it.

Those are the Shania Twain songs that I think the Idol contestants should sing this week. Do you agree/disagree with my selections?
