Ramadan Here is how the US Death Brigade marked the start of the holy Muslim month of Ramadan: air strikes on Fallujah, Iraq.

From Bloomberg:

Two strikes at 2:38 a.m. in the mainly Sunni Muslim city of Fallujah, west of Baghdad, targeted sites used by supporters of Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, whose Tawhid Wal-Jihad group has claimed responsibility for numerous attacks and kidnappings across Iraq, the military said in statements e-mailed from Baghdad.

Authorities including the U.K. Foreign Office have warned that more attacks are expected during Ramadan, which ends on Nov. 14.

And there is more violence to report: 10 civilians are dead following a Baghdad car bombing that targeted an Iraqi police patrol.

Violence at any time is a horrid thing, but that these events are occurring on the first day of the annual Muslim fast is just galling.

This is supposed to be a time of reflection and peace. Laura Poyneer of Open Source Politics writes eloquently about her faith and the significance of Ramadan.

For the person observing the fast, Ramadan is a time for thinking about those who are so poor and needy they never have enough to eat, a time for learning to do without and for learning to put other things before our own desires. It is a time to increase our awareness of God, to remember that we must act in the best manner at all times because He is always watching us. And it is also a time of family and of community, of knowing that our brothers and sisters in faith around the world are sharing our experiences. Perhaps nothing could be further from war and violence and hatred than a month of self-denial.

I encourage you to take Laura’s advice and learn more about Islam and the Muslim people. It beats judging them. And it certainly beats bombing them.

A peaceful Ramadan to you all.

What a bunch of ignorant raving. Look at how much the Muslims themselves respect their holy month, then you might have a point. The truth is Ramadan is just another occasion for Islamic terrorists and tyrants of every stripe to complain about what the “crusaders” are doing in their holy land, all the whhile killing their fellow Muslims.
