In the early 80s, members of British hard rock bands like Deep Purple, Black Sabbath and Uriah Heep all seemed to play musical chairs. It seemed that just about any random combination of the same couple of dozen musicians either did exist, could have existed, or will exist in the the future!

To amuse myself, and teach myself Javascript I produced The Band-O-Matic, enabling any web surfer to create their own random band lineups!

Nice work. And, if you want some new stuff that sounds like these groups (although not the vocals), you could always get a hold of the new album by The Datsuns.

Saw The Datsuns on “Later with Jools Holland” a few weeks back and wasn’t that impressed – a lot of surface energy but not much depth – and no decent guitar solos! Can’t have proper 70s-style hard rock without guitar solos…
