I could write a lengthy, informative, profound analysis of the Super Bowl. But odds are my score will be wrong. And who cares about the analysis? It's about getting the score right.

So rather than take a stab at who will win and by how much, I combed the depths of Blogcritics insight. Sure, some of them can name each player based on their jersey number, and others I threatened at sporkpoint to simply come up with a winner and two different numbers. So you could say our insight runs the gamut.

But whether or not any of us are right about the Super Bowl, or that none of us are even close, what's important is that my prediction is listed first.

Wow, it really kills me to pick against my own team.

The Bears fan in me says “Bears 46, Colts 10″ cause who wants to have to remember a second game winning score for the Bears. Plus, I will never forget the little kid on “Nick Rocks” when I was younger after the Bears won the Superbowl (Man, I should really not admit I watched that show), who had some huge story about how he was a great Bears fan, and when they got to the score he says “Bears 46, Patriots 10, Awwwwriiiiiiite.” So now some kid needs to be able to recreate that with the Colts instead of the Pats.

Of course the realistic football analyst in me, says that won’t be the case, and that the Colts will not get beat up like that. So, with that said, I have to say “Colts 31, Bears 21″ Ouch… yes, I am admitting that I think the Bears will not only lose to the Colts, but the Colts will cover the ridiculous 8 point spread.

Having gotten a little insight into the “spread creation” system this year, I am guessing this line is very much tilted to make Bears fans bet their own team, meaning that the Colts should actually be favored by MORE in the official line. But Bears fans can be silly and bet with their hearts, not their heads.

And so, I have to go against my team in this pick, but don’t expect me to root against them. This will be one time that I truly want to be wrong.

Funny, Jet and I have the same scores, but reversed the teams.

We will see how it plays out on sunday, and who knows, if it’s an interesting enough game..I just might toss on my own name and do a “live” bit in this thread….don’t count on it…but it might be a nice HST tribute as well as an experiment in live commenting as an event happens.

No matter what, it should be a good game.

Well, nobody said the Colts would win by 12. And Jon Sobel was the only one who said the Colts would win with 29 points.

But a slew of BCers had the Bears losing but with 17 points: Ed Driscoll, Phillip Winn, The Theory, Richard Marcus, Clint Weiler, Bruce Kratofil, and The Critic. I s’pose Bruce was the closest with the Colts 28-17.

Dave Stern? You were way off.
